Ser mãe adolescente: sentimentos e percepções

Summary
The pregnancy in teenagers is a phenomenon which doesn´t stop of growing in Brasil and in the World. The meaning of a precocious pregnancy depends of the social context, for some teenagers, the pregnancy is part of the life project. However, for others, it is an ackward event that creates fear and conflicts. The main objective of this work is to analyze which feelings and perceptions the teenager mother nourish for the son just born. It was carried through a non experimental study with delineation of survey with 8 teenagers, with age between 16 and 19 years old, who was hospitalized and had had baby in a public maternity, at the city of João Pessoa. From the interviewed, 3 were single, 4 were living with their partners and only one was married. Five of the interviewed were mother for the first time. Only two had planned the pregnancy. The work pointed that although at a first moment the adolescent was catch by surprise for a non planned pregnancy, the feeling of maternity develops during gestation. Most of the interviewed revealed a positive feeling as happiness, relating to the baby as if it was the best thing that God gave to her. This investigation verified that the teenagers mothers develop feelings towards their children in a similar way as an adult mother does. From this study, is possible to conclude that the pregnancy in the adolescence still a current subject that deserves the attention of society and the contribution of new researches.
